FSA Argumentative Essay
FSA Argumentative EssayWhen I started teaching English, I discovered that there were a lot of students who had never heard of the FSA argumentative essay. Then, when I mentioned it to them, they didn't know what it was either. So, I gave them a free copy of the FSA argumentative essay and after giving them a brief explanation of what this was all about, I asked them to give me their feedback. Here are the results. For one, I had heard from a number of students that FSA arguments were often rather long and detailed. This didn't really bother me too much because I'm used to long sentences. However, one thing that did bother me was that many students were not capable of answering the arguments that were being made. The problem with this kind of argument is that they are not able to counter the facts that were being presented. Therefore, in order to allow for these students to get a better understanding of what it means to write an argumentative essay, I decided to use some FSA sample arg uments. At first, I tried to make my FSA argumentative essay as comprehensive as possible. What I did this is that I would ask the students to read two paragraphs from their FSA argumentative essay and then tell them that they would have to write their own paragraph. This was actually a challenge for them because many of them couldn't even write their own last name. However, one of my students, A.J., was able to write his last name. In fact, he was able to write a whole bunch of different ones. So, at this point, I decided to give them some FSA sample arguments. After all, if one of my students couldn't write his or her last name, it really wasn't a good indication that he or she was going to be able to write his or her FSA argumentative essay. So, I went ahead and handed the students the FSAargumentative essay as well as some FSA sample arguments. As I was preparing to give them the FSA argumentative essay, I was also prepared to make them write their own FSA argument. Then, I looked at my list of the students' names and I asked one by one if I could borrow one of their FSA argumentative essays. It turned out that they weren't available to me so I didn't get to do that but I was still able to borrow a few FSA argumentative essays. After that, I wrote down my notes of what I was going to tell them about the FSA argumentative essay. Then, I asked them if they wanted to do an interview. They were all very agreeable to that, so I just gave them a few minutes to prepare for the interview. At the end of the interview, they were asked to answer a few questions. The questions I asked were fairly standard ones so that I could ensure that the students were able to get a clear and concise definition of the topic of the FSA argumentative essay. The results were rather amazing because I had taught a number of students to write a good and proper argumentative essay before. However, only one of them was able to write a complete argument that was able to answer the FSA argumentat ive essay question in just under fifty minutes. In fact, as it turns out, one of the students who was able to write an argument simply based on one line was able to write an argument that was able to answer the FSA argumentative essay question in less than five minutes. In other words, I learned some rather interesting things from the FSA argumentative essay and I would definitely recommend FSA argumentative essays to anyone who has never written one before.
